Day 13

I guess Starlight didn’t have that dream again last night, as she didn’t wake me up this morning. The Feral was, however, fidgeting in Gladia’s arms. Instead, I swear Heather nearly cracked my ribs kicking me when I woke her up this morning.

“Shit, sorry,” she whispered, once she realized what she had done. “Not a good idea shaking me like that.”

“Now you tell me,” I croaked.

“Yeah,” she said, sitting up on the cot. “Had a few bad experiences being woke up like that, and they nearly always ended up with a dick being shoved in my mouth without me wanting it.”

“Sorry,” I said, rising back onto my feet. “I’ll figure out a better way at some point.”

“Kisses, tickling, even groping is fine,” she said. “Just don’t shake me.”

“So, just be more gentle?” I asked.

“Yeah,” she said, smiling. “Not that you were being rough. It’s more just from the bad memories that makes shaking me a problem.”

“I’ll keep that in mind,” I said. “Sleep well?”

“Miss my bed already,” she said, rubbing the back of her neck, “but the pleasant company makes up for it,” she added, glancing over at Starlight and Gladia.

“Speaking of pleasant company,” I began.

“Time for me to go hang out with what’s her face? The grey bunny?” Heather asked.

“Yeah,” I told her. “She’s likely not awake yet, so you can go freshen up if you want.”

“Have time to spunk in me?” she asked, pulling me towards her.

“Not now,” I said. “I’ve got to get moving. Besides,” I nodded towards Starlight and Gladia, “I doubt they would appreciate the noise.”

“We could go somewhere else,” she said, nuzzling into my chest. “Somewhere noise isn’t an issue.”

“Maybe later,” I said. “Right now, though, I’ve got to go do what I need to do.”

“Fine,” she whined, still nuzzling into me. “Can we stay like this a few minutes, at least? You owe me a cuddle, anyway.”

“Maybe tonight, once I’m back,” I said.

“If you come back,” she said, looking up into my eyes. “Don’t think that I don’t know you’re going to end up fighting.” She pulled me down into a kiss. “You better come back, though. I couldn’t forgive you for abandoning me after being so awesome. And you still owe me a massage and cuddle.” She added that last bit with another quick kiss.

“Guess I better give it my best, then,” I smiled and gave her a brief hug.

“You better,” she said, smiling as I released her. “You’ve turned into my best hope for a good life.”

“I won’t let you down,” I said as I began walking towards the door. “Her name’s Macy, by the way.” I added, looking over my shoulder.

“Right,” Heather said. “I think me and her will spend some time at the bath, getting to know each other.”

“Have fun,” I said as I stepped back into the hall.

Not long after I stepped out into the cool, morning air, I heard a commotion from the far side of town. One that had the guard sounding the alarm. I could only hope that this was a distraction for Jacob’s forces to move to Jonah’s. To avoid running into the guards that would be responding to assist with the situation, I stuck to various back alleys, and eventually, the wall of the city.

As I got to about a block away from Jonah’s, I heard him yelling from the balcony: “Find that miserable cunt! Find the bunny! Find Carla!” Apparently, she somehow was given warning and was able to slip out overnight. I could only hope that nothing would happen to her while she was on her own (I assume she was, anyway).

I saw a pair of Jonah’s men come from the front of Jonah’s compound and run past the alley where I was. After a few more minutes, I began to hear the clashing of blades, telling me the raid had just begun, the sun just starting to rise above the horizon.

I slowly began approaching the compound myself. I saw Amaka, being carried by her sister April, and a few men run towards the back gate. Before reaching it, April sat Amaka down and proceeded with all but two of the men they came with through the rear entrance, which seemed to be unguarded. That is, until Judah emerged, immediately taking out the men with April. The bunny herself was simply lucky to not have been in his path, or was barely able to react quickly enough one.

The girl, though, showed why she was one of the trainers for Jacob’s men. She held her own very well against the shark as she poked and prodded with her spear. Judah’s armor, though, was proving to be sufficient at protecting him from her attacks. It didn’t take Amaka long to hobble into the compound herself, the two men staying on either side of her, obviously trying to protect her as best as they were able.

April continued attacking, and dodging the shark’s attacks as well. Amaka and her guards basically stood in front of the gate, seeming to be unsure of the best course of action to take. I eventually got Amaka’s attention, placing a paw on her shoulder.

“I take it someone overslept?” I asked quietly, smiling. Amaka spun around, startled, and hugged me really quick.

“Alakath! No, we had other issues to deal with,” she told me. “There’s a weak spot on the wall over there. Keep that fucking shark distracted while we get it open somehow.” She then told me, seeming to know that then wasn’t the best time for a conversation.

“Aye, ma’am,” I smiled at her as I drew my sword. “Stay close, and I’ll make sure you get out of this suicide mission alive.”

April was steadily engaging the shark, and I hoped that would give me an opening to deal some damage to him. I stepped in once I was close enough and gave a good swing at him. My flimsy blade proved to be inadequate, as Judah’s mail remained intact. However, Judah turned towards me, and April managed to gouge through the side of the shark’s armor, earning a loud growl. He quickly spun away from the bunny, yanking the polearm out of her hands before she could withdraw it. Being close to the outer wall, he shattered the handle against the brick barrier.

April immediately backed away and drew her dagger. I noticed Amaka and the two men making their way along the wall and positioned myself to where Judah would have to plow through me in order to get to them. April, however, charged at the shark herself, likely aiming to stab at his side.

Instead, however, the shark caught her jaw with an uppercut, causing her to drop her dagger. He then kicked her into a tree on the far side of the area, either knocking the wind out of her, or making her so disoriented she couldn’t stand or dodge the debris that fell on top of her. Either way, this left only me standing between the shark and Amaka. And that didn’t last long.

Judah barged at me and I stepped to the side, slicing at him with my blade as he passed by. My timing was a bit off, as I completely missed. The shark, meanwhile, plowed directly into one of the men by Amaka, crushing him into the wall. The fox, however, did manage to slice the shark’s thigh, although that didn’t seem to bother the aggressive brute at all.

The other guy, a collie, jumped in-between Judah and Amaka and swung his blade at the shark. The swing missed, as Judah was slightly out of his reach. I took a running start, and kicked the shark in the head, causing him to stagger into the wall. The collie again swung at the shark, his blade impacting, but bouncing off the shark’s armor. Before the collie could recover from the recoil, the shark grabbed his head and smashed it into the wall, the collie’s skull audibly cracking. Again I swung at the shark, and again, his armor deflected my blade.

I noticed then that Amaka had made her way over to her sister, and was clearing some debris that had fallen onto the dazed bunny. The shark began to charge at them when I stepped in front of him. I stabbed as hard as I could at the shark as he bowled into me, intent on knocking me off my feet and getting to the bunnies.

The shark landed on top of me, crushing the air from my lungs. But the shark ceased moving, aside from twitching as his blood poured from where my sword managed to pierce his armor. After a few moments, one of the bunnies, April, came over and rolled the heavy brute off of me. My torso was covered in his blood, so, once I pulled my blade out of him, I used the side of his tunic to wipe off my blade before sheathing it.

“Thanks,” I said as Amaka helped me to my feet and pulled me into a hug.

“Welcome,” they both said.

“Now what?” I asked.

“Well, now we break in through a weak spot in the wall,” Amaka said, leading us along the back of the building to a cracked portion of the structure. “Of course, no one told me how exactly we were going to do that.”

“I know how,” April said, sauntering over to one of the guys that had came in with her. She pulled a pouch off of him and came back with it. “I don’t know where he got this, but Red said this would work without making much noise.” April placed the charge on the wall and activated it. “Idiot!” she yelled as she yanked Amaka back, right before it, rather quietly, detonated.

“Sorry,” the blue bunny muttered. “You didn’t say it was going to blow up.”

“Didn’t think I needed to, dumb bun,” April tussled her sister’s hair. “Now, let’s get going.”

The hole created by the small explosive was just wide enough for each of us to crawl through. Amaka led the way, with her sister right behind her and I brought up the rear. When we entered the room, it was obvious that this was where the “entertainers” dwelt, given that the girls were only wearing lingerie and other intimates.

They were all staring at us as we came in through the hole. However, they were also all quiet. None said a word, screamed, or anything like that. I made a gesture towards the hole we had just created.

“Feel free to take your freedom,” I said. “Just keep safe once you get outside. Stick to the alleyways and go home to your families.” With that, the girls, remaining surprisingly quiet and orderly, proceeded to crawl out of the hole and towards the outside.

While the girls filed out through the hole, the two bunnies and I proceeded to exit the room into an interior hallway. Standing next to the door, with his back towards us, was an orange furred cat.

“Benny?” Amaka got his attention. This caused the young cat to jump and turn to face us.

“Wait,” I said. “Are you the same Benny dating Amarlee?” I asked.

“Yes,” Amaka and the cat said in unison.

“I figured you would know,” I said to Amaka. “Now, leave. That poor bunny really misses you, and I’d hate to break her heart killing you.” I then told the cat, gesturing to where we had entered.

“Gods, thank you!” the cat almost yelled. “Thank you all!” he added as he scrambled towards the hole, helping a few of the straggling girls make their way out.

“Well, that answers that,” I said.

“Answers what?” Amaka asked.

“I was going to ask you eventually if you’d seen this guy,” I said, pulling out the picture Amarlee gave me.

“Oh,” she giggled. “Yeah, that’s him. He has a copy of that same picture himself.”

“I see,” I said, smiling. “Well, where to now, miss recon bunny?” I then asked, tussling her hair.

“Cut it out,” she growled. “We’re going to somewhere on the top floor. That’s where Jonah’s office is.”

“Lead the way,” April said, nudging her sister along.

“Can you carry me?” Amaka asked, wincing as she put weight on her injured leg.

“Only if I use you as a shield when we run into a few of Jonah’s goons,” April said, not quite hiding a smirk.

“Nah,” Amaka sighed, limping along. “I don’t wanna be skewered.”

“Then carry your damn self,” April half way snarled.

“Fine, you ain’t gotta be such a bitch, though,” Amaka glowered at her sister as she lead us towards a staircase.

“Enough,” I growled. “Don’t need to be at each other’s throats.”

“She started it!” they both groaned in unison. I could help but chuckle.

“Well, both of you knock it off,” I said, smirking. “Save the bickering for later.”

“Fine,” they both sighed, smiling at each other.

Amaka led us up the stairway, all the way to the top, ten floors high. Amaka’s pace had slowed to little more than a crawl, her leg no doubt in tremendous pain. From what I could tell from the sound of the battle out front, neither side really seemed to hold an advantage over the other. I could still hear the clashing of blades and shields, and not very many pained cries, a sign that neither side was doing much to the other.

Eventually, we made it to the top floor. Surprisingly, we didn’t run into any resistance. That changed when we rounded a corner and found another of Jonah’s lieutenants, the mink girl. She bit her lip as her eyes fell upon me.

“For fuck’s sakes,” the mink growled, “I told Jonah to leave more guards inside.” She shook her head. “You fucking men never listen to women.” She then added, her angry eyes set on me.

“For the most part, you’re right,” I said. “If you’re ignored so badly, why stay here and not pursue your own ambitions?”

“If I fucking could I fucking would,” she growled. “But I owe this damn idiot a couple of favors. Favors I’m starting to think are repaid.”

“Then leave,” Amaka said. “We don’t want to fight you.”

The mink actually smiled, somewhat, but shook her head. “Like I said, I’d leave if I could, but Jonah has one more string around my neck.” She sighed, appearing downcast. “One I have no way to get rid of.”

“What is it?” Amaka asked. “Is it something worth dying for?” I saw the hint of a tear in the mink’s eye as she forced a smile.

“I don’t think it is,” she sighed, “but I don’t really have a choice in the matter.” She added with a low growl.

“Are you an insider?” April asked in an accusatory manner.

“What?” the mink looked confused. “I wish that was the case, as I wouldn’t be here right now if I were.”

“You’re his squire, aren’t you?” I then asked, that being the only reason I could come up with that she would be forced to remain loyal to him. The mink nodded. “You know, as cruel as Jonah is, you’d be forgiven for saving your own skin and stepping aside. No one would blame you for letting us kill him.”

The mink’s lips began quivering as tears began forming uncontrollably. She raised her slingshot and pulled a marble back. Her arm was shaking badly to where it was impossible for her to aim, and she released her shot. It sailed over our heads and impacted the far wall behind us. With that, she broke down sobbing, collapsing to her knees and dropping her weapon.

We walked over to her and April pulled the girl to her feet. April helped her walk over to a corner where, should reinforcements happen to arrive, she would be safely out of the way. Before coming back to where Amaka and I were standing, April leaned in and whispered something into the mink’s ear. The mink just pulled April into a tight hug and whispered “Thank you” into hers. With that, April rejoined us and we entered Jonah’s office.

The shark was standing at his balcony, watching the stalemate of a battle going on below. As the three of us began to approach him, he began to clap.

“I’m impressed, girls,” the shark said, rather cheerily. “You bunnies truly are impressive specimens. It’s a shame that you’re wasting your lives working for that scumbag pit rather than living in pleasure for me.” I could begin to hear the grin in his voice. “You all have some tenacity and grit, and I could use that more than that ungrateful pit you’re wasting your lives for.” Then he turned around.

“Ah, Alakath,” his grin seemed to grow when he saw me. “You disappoint me. I didn’t believe you’d stoop so low as to help the deranged mutt. It amazes me at the pull he has.”

“I’m not here for him,” I said. “I’m here to make sure Amaka and her family stay alive. Nothing more.”

“That’s the problem with you,” Jonah guffawed. “You’re too sentimental for your own good.”

“I’d rather that than being cold hearted and heartless,” I said, my face drawing into a snarl as I drew my sword. I heard April do the same.

“Stay behind me,” I heard her murmur, I assume to Amaka. I glanced over as Amaka winced, shuddering as she readied herself as best as she could with her hurt leg, preparing more for evasion than aggression.

I then looked at April in the eyes and nodded. She returned the nod as we both turned towards Jonah and charged at him simultaneously. The shark, however, did not attempt to evade our attack, but rather, swung his arms in an attempt to separate us. I narrowly dodged his counter, but April was caught by it full force and was sent flying into a nearby wall. Upon impact, she let out a very painful yelp. I took a swing at the shark and cut his tunic, but his mail prevented any injury to him.

The shark then charged at Amaka, and her quick reflexes allowed her to tuck and roll away from him, although, before she could fully recover, he charged her again. I swung at him, although his mail rendered my blade’s impact harmless. The moment the bunny regained her feet and drew her knife, the shark plowed directly into her ribcage.

Somehow, the bunny managed to jam her knife into the shark’s shoulder right before the impact. Still, the shark’s momentum sent her sprawling across the room, coming to a stop a few feet from the balcony Jonah had been standing at. I sliced at the shark but he began charging the bunny at that same moment, causing my blade to impact his mail instead of his dorsal fin, which was exposed.

The moment Amaka staggered to her feet, Jonah slammed his shoulder into her again, sending her towards the edge of the balcony. She landed on top of the railing, and it immediately collapsed under the force of her impact.

“Amaka!” I yelled as she slid over the edge.

I immediately charged the shark as he turned to face me. I stabbed at his abdomen as I crashed into him, but he dodged and caught my jaw with a left hook. I shot a jab at him with my left hand, managing to gain a bit of space. Enough to get a low swing at him. However, doing so opened me up to a right hook from him, which connected well enough to send me spinning away from him.

My blade, however, managed to cut deep into his thigh, hampering his ability to charge at me. This didn’t stop him from boxing me, however, as he continuously attempted to pummel me with hooks, jabs, and other punches. The speed of his melee was still enough to keep me more on the defensive.

Every so often, I’d be able to get a lunge and swing at him with the sword. Useless it was, as I couldn’t seem to hit anything but his mail, which remained impervious to the flimsy blade. Every impact just resulted in a clinking of metal as the edge grated across his armor. I thought I heard a grunting from the edge of the balcony.

Becoming just visible as she pulled herself up onto the balcony was Amaka. I was very relieved that she was still alive. The fool then imperiled her life immediately by pouncing onto the shark’s back and gripping at his jaw. The shark immediately began spinning about, trying to fling her off. I screamed Amaka’s name right as the shark teetered off the edge, sending them both plummeting to the ground below.

I ran to the edge and looked down. Somehow, Amaka managed to separate herself from Jonah and grab onto a ledge. Surprising to me was that she didn’t appear frightened or anything. She was just looking down at where Jonah had landed. Glinting in the morning sun was a blade that had pierced through. Likely the force of his weight landing on the unfortunate soul was sufficient to pierce his armor.

After a few minutes, I walked over to where April was lying on the floor and helped her to her feet. She let out another yelp when she tried to put weight on one of her feet. I assume that she had landed on it awkwardly, and painfully. I wrapped her arm over my shoulder and walked her out into the hallway.

The mink was still in the corner, although she had regained her composure by the time we had walked back over to her.

“Is he?” she asked.

“He fell to his death,” I said.

“I see,” she said, a smile creeping onto her face. “So, now what?”

“That’s up to you,” I said.

“She looks hurt,” the mink said.

“My ankle over extended when Jonah slung me into a wall,” April groaned. “It hurts pretty bad, now.”

“Probably broke something,” the mink said. “Wait, where’s the blue girl?” she asked suddenly.

“Last I saw, dangling from a window ledge,” I told her.

“You’re moving awfully slow to get her,” the mink then said. “Hope she’s got a strong grip.”

“She’s not as heavy as she looks,” April said, smirking at the mink. “Plus, she climbs everywhere, so I’m sure she’s got the strength.”

“I see,” the mink then said. “I’ll meet you outside, then,” she added as she stood. “There’s someone that I’m sure she’ll be glad to see, and I’d hate to see the General reclaim her.”

“Alright,” I said, ushering the injured bunny towards the stairs.

After we descended a few floors, we encountered Amaka, being helped along by her sisters Tara and Amy. Despite having two people helping her along, Amaka was moving just as slow as April was. Now that there was no longer the sounds of battle outside, I figured it was okay not to rush.

Once we finally we finally got outside, Jacob’s mean began loudly cheering, many chanting Amaka’s name. I smiled at the bunny as she began to blush and gazed downward, a small smile slowly forming. I placed my paw on her shoulder.

“How are you feeling?” I asked her.

“Honestly?” she asked, and I nodded. “I don’t know. I don’t think happy’s the right word. Relieved, maybe?”

“That’s better than I expected,” I smiled. “Most people are nervous or anxious after having killed someone.”

“Guess it hasn’t sunk in yet,” she said, keeping her gaze to the ground. “But, I don’t feel like I killed him, really.”

“How’s that?” I asked.

“I mean, maybe I did indirectly, but it’s more like he fell on his own. I just happened to be what made him, I don’t know, lose balance?”

“So, you still were the cause of his demise,” Amy said, placing her paw on Amaka’s other shoulder. “Even if you didn’t kill him directly, it’s still because of you he’s dead.” Amaka took a deep sigh.

“Fine,” she said. “If it were anyone else, maybe I’d feel a bit of remorse.” She began to growl. “But because of what he’s done, I won’t feel bad about it one bit.”

“Didn’t say you had to,” I said. “But most do, even if the person they killed deserved it.”

“Well, maybe I’m not like most fucking people!” Amaka began to tear up. “Maybe I’m just,” Amy cut her off by clamping her mouth shut with her hands as Amaka began jerking from the dam of tears that had just broke. Then, Amy and the rest of Amaka’s sisters who were there gathered around her and formed a group hug.

After a few moments, I began hearing “Make a hole! Make way!” coming from the throng between us and the gate. I glanced that way, as did Amaka and her sisters, and standing at the gate, next to Brutus, was Carla, or Angie LeRoe, Amaka’s mother. Her fur is more tan now than I remember, but I suppose years of abuse will do that.

Amaka’s eyes lit up the moment she saw her mother, and she, with her sisters not far behind, ran towards Carla and pulled her into as tight of a hug as her body could muster. Her sisters formed their group hug again around the two of them. I couldn’t help but smile at the sight.

I was half-expecting Jacob to show up then, to talk to them about joining his cause. However, he didn’t, and this alarmed me a bit. This was the perfect opportunity for him to give the speech he no doubt had planned to commemorate the occasion with, and he was allowing it to go to waste.

Eventually, I walked over to where Brutus had propped himself against the fence.

“Where’s Jacob?” I quietly asked.

“He was here when I left to get Carla,” he replied, eyes scanning the throng behind me. “Knowing him, he would have been at or near the front of the charge.”

“Where was that at when you left?” I then asked.

“Stalled a few yards beyond the gate,” he stated. “But I also left early on to locate where Carla was hiding.”

“I see,” I said. “I’d hate to break up their reunion, but we need to find him.”

“No need to break it up,” Brutus said. “I’m sure one of his men know where he is.”

“Well, let’s ask about then,” I suggested.

We proceeded to ask the men who were still standing about if they had seen Jacob, or “Red” as he was more commonly known by. None had seen him since the battle ended. I glanced towards where Jonah had landed, a sword sticking through him. I waved Brutus over to help roll the heavy shark over.

I guess after Brutus left, Jacob managed to push as far as the front entrance to the building, as it was Jacob that was underneath the shark. His head was turned at an impossible angle, and moving it revealed his neck to be basically jelly: no vertebral support whatsoever. Even if someone had gotten the shark off him sooner, he had no chance to survive.

I find it odd the pit didn’t attempt to get out of the way. Surely he was aware of the falling brute. He was screaming loudly as he fell. Whatever the case, the shark might have lived, if not for the sword piercing his heart.

I wasn’t exactly surprised when very few people seemed upset by his death. Rather, many of the men who had been cheering moments ago now seemed confused. In fact, one even voiced his confusion.

“Now what do we do?” a young fox asked.

“Yeah, what now?” one of Jonah’s men, a young otter, chimed.

“Gents,” I spoke loudly for all to hear. “First, I recommend you all go home to your families and show your love for them, as each of you easily could have died today. I then suggest finding gainful work in less shady circumstances.” By now, nearly all ears were tuned in to what I had to say. “I urge those of you who may struggle with that, if you’re still early in your youth, to enlist in the Army. You’ll be taken care of and do this city a major justice in the process. Few professions here can be more honorable and rewarding. If you’re more advanced in age, perhaps a few tours with the Labor Corps is for you. The city pays well for solid work, and there’s always work to be done. Either way, my friend, Louis Bradshaw, at the courthouse can get you all signed on whichever you choose.”

With that, with some murmuring, the men, and the few women who were fighting, slowly dispersed in various directions, I assume to where their families were. Remaining behind were Amaka, her sisters, Brutus, and myself in front of the building. The bunnies were still bunched up together in a hug, although a few of them had looked over in my direction.

“So, he really is gone,” the mink’s voice came from the doorway, a battered-looking skunk stepping beside her. I vaguely recognized this skunk, her bruises and scars blemishing her appearance, making it difficult to be certain. That is, until she spoke.

“Amaka!” she yelled, and her voice immediately confirmed she was who I thought, a young girl by the name of Eliza Warrens.

“She’s in the center of those bunnies,” I said, nodding to where Amaka’s family was.

“Thanks,” she said and sauntered over to where they were. Amaka must have saw her, as she broke out of the bunnies’ huddle and met the skunk half way. They pulled each other into a deep, passionate kiss as soon as the met each other. That reminded me that the two were at one point dating seriously, even talking about marriage at such a young age.

“Can we talk?” the mink asked.

“Of course,” I said. “What’s your name by the way?” I asked,

“Jesse,” she said. “But, that’s not important, really.” She sighed.

“What’s wrong?” I asked, placing a paw on her shoulder, which twitched the moment I did so.

“What am I to do?” she asked. “I’m a wanted fugitive, you know. Jonah was my only security from the guard.”

“Depends on what you were convicted of,” I said. “If it was in connection with Jonah, you might could be pardoned.”

“If only it were,” she said. “No,” she eyed Amaka, “I killed her father.”

“How do you know he was her father?” I asked.

“Because Carla showed me a picture of him,” she said. “To protect him, Amaka, and her brothers, she has always said that she doesn’t know who it is, but she does.”

“Why did you kill him?” I asked. “Did Jonah put you up to it?”

“No,” she lowered her gaze, tears forming. “He mistook me for one of the working girls and tried to rape me.”

“So that’s self defense,” I said. “You can’t be punished for that.”

“I can be if he’s the King’s son,” she told me. “Yes, the King’s eldest son who was found ‘murdered’ in an alleyway was Amaka’s father. And I killed him.”

“So that’s,” I started to say something I shouldn’t have.

“That’s why the King has been lenient towards her,” she said, finishing my statement. “He knows she’s his granddaughter. An illegitimate one, but still, a potential heir. Her and her two now dead brothers are the only ones of Carla’s that have that claim.” She glared directly into my eyes. “That claim is why they were killed. You, and her natural ability to keep a low profile, are the only reasons she hasn’t been attacked yet.”

“You know this, how?” I asked.

“Because, the person who had her brothers killed contacted me to kill her,” she said. “He even offered to get the King to commute my sentence in exchange for it.”

“You turned him down?” I asked.

“I will not kill except in self defense. It was a condition for me agreeing to squire with Jonah,” she said. “Freedom from prison isn’t worth killing someone and getting sent there anyway. And, as Jonah’s squire, any crime I would have been caught committing, he would be punished for instead of me, although I likely still would have been detained since I am still a fugitive.”

“Meet me at the palace tonight,” I told her. “I’ll see about getting you pardoned.”

“You’ll do that?” she asked.

“Of course,” I said, squeezing her shoulder. “You don’t deserve to be punished.”

“You’re as amazing as people say you are,” she said, smiling for the first time. “But, until then, what do I do?”

“Stay hidden,” I said. “Can you say who was trying to hire you?”

She bit her lip. “Only to you,” she said as she leaned in to my ear and whispered, “The Queen.”

“Why?” I asked.

“Never said, and wouldn’t say when I asked,” Jesse said. “Just wanted it done.”

“I see,” I said. “Thank you for telling me this.”

“Don’t tell her any of it,” the mink said. “She’ll find out with the time’s right.”

“Of course,” I said as she left out the gate.

Once Jesse turned a corner into one of the nearby alleys, I walked over to where the bunnies were standing, admiring the passion in which Amaka and Eliza were kissing each other. When I passed the two, Amaka broke out of the kiss and turned to follow me to her family, leaving Eliza standing there audibly gasping.

“So, now what are you all going to do?” I asked them.

“We were just talking about that,” Carla said. “No doubt the pitiful excuse for a shack I called home before all this is gone, so I’m afraid we may not have a home.”

“What about Jacob’s base?” I asked. “There’s plenty of room for you all there. It shouldn’t cost much to legally acquire it, as I’m sure it’s still legally considered abandoned.”

“That’s such a great idea!” Carla grinned. “No wonder I didn’t think of it,” she added, soliciting a chuckle from her daughters. “Plus, all my girls have skills that could bring in Furre to keep it up. Who knows, from there maybe us bunnies can start our own organization. One that improves this city without destroying it.”

“I’d help with that, if you ever do it,” I said. “But that involves a lot of planning and money, and so far, you’ve neither.”

“Yeah, true,” Carla said, still smiling.

“For now, you all just need housing and work, and that building is the best for you all, I think,” I said.

“You’re right,” Carla said.

“Well, there’s one bunny I need to inform of this change,” I said.

“Macy?” April asked and I nodded.

“Where is she?” Amaka then asked, leaning against me.

“Don’t worry,” I tussled her hair. “She’s in good company.”

“Starlight?” Amaka asked. “Or Gladia, if not both?”

“Neither,” I smiled. “Don’t worry, you’ll meet her soon.” With that, I gave her a quick hug myself and walked out to get Macy and Heather.

The walk to Heather’s home was relaxing. I guess that’s always been the case when the adrenaline is slowly dying down. The still somewhat cool air also may have helped a bit.

The front door to the place was unlocked when I arrived. I gently opened it and stepped inside.

“Get the fuck off me bitch!” I heard Heather yell the moment I closed the door. I could also hear Macy giggling.

“Guess you’re not as strong as you said,” the younger bunny could be heard cooing.

“Fuck off!” Heather retorted. “You try wrestling with just one arm.”

I walked into the bedroom I heard the yelling from and couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight. Macy was straddled over Heather’s back, the hare’s legs pinned under her body. Macy had one hand pinning Heather’s one good arm behind her back and the other had a handful of hair, shoving the hare’s face down into the floor.

“I’m sure you’re loving this,” the bunny cooed in the hare’s ear.

“Yeah, no, the fuck!” Heather stuttered. “Who in their right mind enjoys this?”

Macy released the hare’s hair and reached between the hare’s legs. “You do, if your wetness says anything.”

“Fuck off!” the hare moaned. Macy glanced in my direction and smiled.

“It would be a shame if a certain kitty didn’t see this and take advantage,” Macy winked at me at the end of her tease.

“The fuck?” Heather said, obviously confused. Despite not being held down, the hare kept her head where it was.

“You two look like you’re having fun,” I laughed. “Maybe I’ll come back later”

“Make her get off, please?” Heather whined.

“Get you off?” Macy asked, rubbing between the hare’s legs, earning a gasp from the helpless hare.

“No, bitch,” she gasped. “Get your fat ass off of me!” With that, the hare tried to roll over, but being pinned the way she was, the otherwise weaker bunny had no trouble keeping her in place. The hare’s toes began to curl as the bunny continued rubbing.

“You shouldn’t have been running your mouth saying you’d have your way with me,” Macy said in the hare’s ear. “Didn’t you say that you only needed one arm to beat me?”

Heather gasped as she began squirming. “Fuck you,” she barely managed to say between gasps.

“No, I think you’re the one fucked,” Macy grinned as she doubled her efforts between the hare’s legs. Whatever she did earned a loud moan from the hare. “I Knew you were loving this.”

“Alakath!” Heather moaned. “I swear if you don’t make her stop! Oh!” The hare didn’t finish her complaint, as she began shuddering.

“That it?” Macy asked when Heather stopped shaking. The hare didn’t answer, instead she just remained still, breathing heavily. “I win?”

“You win,” the hare croaked. With that, Macy released her hold on Heather and stood beaming. Heather, meanwhile, just sprawled out on the floor. Macy then rubbed her hand, now wet, all over Heather’s rump, essentially using her as a towel. “I swear, Alakath, if you’re hard I’m going to slap the piss out of you.”

“I get the feeling you’re going to regardless,” I chuckled as I walked over to help Heather onto her feet. The moment she was standing, she indeed did slap me, although it wasn’t very hard.

“Enjoy the show?” Macy asked, wrapping her arms around the hare and resting her head on Heather’s shoulder. Heather, just glared at her.

“You’re lucky you’re cute, bitch,” Heather growled at her.

“Shush,” Macy told her, kissing her neck. Heather just closed her eyes and sighed. Macy then directed her gaze at me. “Did you?” I immediately began rubbing the back of my neck. “Or would you have rather she have been on top?” Macy’s gaze was fiesty as she asked that.

“Honestly,” I said nervously, “a guy would have to be gay not to enjoy that.” To my surprise, both Macy and Heather grinned.

“Glad my suffering was entertaining,” Heather smirked.

“Hey, you’re the one who got to orgasm,” Macy said, kissing the hare’s neck again.

“True,” Heather smiled at the bunny. “I guess being on the wrong of a pin ain’t so bad occasionally.”

“Rematch when you’re arm’s better?” Macy asked. Heather grinned.

“Oh, you bet your sexy ass we’ll have a rematch,” Heather growled, gazing into Macy’s eyes with a determined desire.

“I’m sure people would pay to see it,” Macy grinned.

“Fuck that,” Heather said. “They would, but we ain’t doing shit in public.”

“Aw, okay,” Macy kissed her neck again. She then turned her gaze to me. “So, how’d that thing go?”

“Jonah’s dead,” I said. “So is Jacob.” Macy’s smile faded instantly.

“Wait, Red’s dead, too?” she asked.

“Yeah,” I said. “You could say they killed each other.”

“How?” Macy asked.

“I doubt you’d believe me if I told you,” I said. “It’s pretty crazy. Amaka should be the one to tell you.”

“How is she?” Macy then asked. “She’s not hurt more than she was, is she?”

“Maybe a scratch here, a bruise there, but nothing major,” I told her. “I think she’s worried about you, actually.”

“I’m sure,” Macy said. “When can we see her?”

“Why do you think I’m here?” I chuckled.

“Right,” Macy peeped, starting to blush.

“Oh, so forget about me, then,” Heather smirked.

“I wasn’t going to forget about you,” I tussled her hair. “Hard to forget someone like you.”

“Right?” Heather smiled at that. “Can I tag along?”

“Of course,” I said, patting her shoulder. “But you both need to get dressed first.”

“Nope,” Macy said, wrapping her arms around Heather. “This girl showed me the error of my ways. No more clothes for me.”

“You can’t walk around town naked,” I laughed. “I doubt anyone would complain, but the guard might not be keen on it.”

“Fine,” the bunny pouted. I burst out laughing before walking out to let them dress without my prying eyes.

After a few minutes, the two of them emerged into the living room where I was waiting, giggling about whatever they had been talking about.

“You two ready?” I asked.

“Yeah,” Macy sighed.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“I still can’t believe Red’s dead,” Macy said. “Yeah he was a jerk, but he’s been the closest I’ve had to a father, ever.”

“You’ll be fine,” I told her as I pulled her into a hug. “Men are overrated.”

“A man admitting you all are overrated?” Heather burst out laughing. “Never though I’d live to see the day.” I just glared at her. “Don’t worry, I still think you’re amazing.”

“Yeah,” Macy smiled at me. “You do know that, right?”

“She’s only told me that every day since I offered to squire her,” I said.

“It’s the truth,” Heather wrapped her arm around my waist. “I’ll fucking marry him if he ends up not squiring me.”

“We’ll cross that bridge later,” I laughed a little nervously. “For now, let’s get Macy back with her family.”

“Is Mom there?” Macy asked as we walked out the door.

“You’ll see,” I said, smiling at her.

The walk to the bunnies’ new home was quiet and calm. Heather and Macy kept giggling as they talked amongst themselves, their chatter kept inaudible to me. Eventually, we arrived and the door opened as we walked up to it. Standing in the doorway was a female panther, a grin on her face.

“Pantera!” Mace cried out. “You didn’t go to the battle?”

“I did,” she said, frowning. “I slipped away the moment Jonah landed on Red.”

“You actually saw that?” I asked.

“Yeah, I wasn’t that far away,” she answered. “Come, I’ve already brought your other sisters here.”

“Amaka’s here already?” Macy asked. Pantera laughed.

“Gods no!” she cackled. “Her injury’s festering, thanks to Red, so she’s going to be a while yet. That’s on top of April’s hurt leg slowing them down as well. Come and see yourself, funny bunny.”

When we entered the big common room I met with Jacob in last time, I saw the bunnies who were able to find apprenticeships. Amarlee, Andrea, and Ashley were all sitting at a bench, chatting with each other as if things were still normal. Macy walked over and sat down with them and joined in their conversation, as if she had been there the whole time. I looked at Heather, and she just smiled at me.

“Well, now what?” the hare asked.

“Now, we wait,” I told her as I made my way to a bench against the wall and rested my head against the wall. I closed my eyes for a minute while I waited.

The next thing I know, Heather is elbowing me in the rib cage, saying “Wake up!” over and over.

I opened my eyes right as Amaka limped into the room. I just smiled as all of her sisters and mother gathered into a big, group hug. I’m sure I saw quite a few teary eyes as they hugged each other. Eventually, Amaka’s gaze fell on us, and Macy drug her over.

“Hold up!” Amaka cried as she stumbled from being tugged by the excited grey bunny. “My leg’s killing me!”

“Sorry,” Macy muttered. “But you really need to meet this chick.”

“Okay, okay!” the blue bunny sighed. “I just can’t move as quick as you, right now.” With that, Heather stood up.

“Here,” she gestured for Amaka to take her seat. Amaka grinned and chuckled.

“Thanks,” she said as she made it over to us, “but I’ll sit here.” She sat in the first chair she got to.

“Leg hurts that badly?” Heather asked.

“Yeah,” she said, rubbing where her injury was. “Hope it’s not infected.”

“Looks like it might be,” Macy said. “Is Shan still here?”

“I doubt it,” Amaka said. “That bull wasn’t at the door, was he?” Macy sighed.

“Guess a trip to the hospital is unavoidable, then,” the grey bunny said.

“Yeah,” Amaka sighed, “but it can wait until later, can’t it?”

“It really shouldn’t, by the looks of it,” Heather said.

“Go tomorrow, then?” Amaka asked.

“Babe,” Eliza’s voice came from behind her, “you put it off, you’ll be crippled the rest of your life.”

“I know,” Amaka whined, “but it hurts so bad! I don’t want to walk any more on it!”

“I’ll carry you, then,” Eliza said as she placed a hand on the blue bunny’s shoulder. “I don’t want you suffering.” Amaka looked up at the skunk, a smirk on her face.

“I should be saying that to you,” Amaka said. “You’ve already suffered enough.”

“Well,” Eliza kissed the bunny’s forehead, “your leg has got to heal so you can protect me.”

“Yeah,” Amaka smiled as she looked into the skunk’s eyes. “But tomorrow.”

“At least you’re just as stubborn as always,” Eliza grinned as she leaned down and kissed the blue bunny’s lips.

“I’m not stubborn,” Amaka smirked as she returned the kiss. “I just want to enjoy this moment.”

“We can have it whenever,” Eliza grinned. “You not losing your leg is more important.”

“Not just us,” Amaka said, kissing her lover again. “I know we can have ours whenever.”

“Seriously, babe,” Eliza straightened back up. “I’ll carry you now. Everyone else can, and I’m sure will, come with us.”

“Mr. Busybody over there won’t, I’m sure,” Amaka stuck her tongue out at me.

“Unfortunately, your teasing self is right,” I said. “I’ve got a few things to take care of for,” I paused, looking for the right word.

“For what?” Amaka asked.

“Or is it who?” Macy smirked.

“For another of Jonah’s victims,” I said, referring to Jesse.

“Who?” Amaka asked.

I bit my lip as I paused to consider answering.

“It’s Jesse, isn’t it?” Eliza asked.

“Who?” Amaka asked.

“You don’t remember?” Eliza asked. “She helped us a few times with fencing,” she stopped there.

“I know about your pasts,” I chuckled. “Can’t fault you for the circumstances you found yourselves in.”

“Oh,” Eliza sighed. “At least you’re more understanding than most would be.”

“Oh!” Amaka gasped. “I knew I recognized her!” The bunny glanced at me with a curious expression. “You’re going to help her, now? You know she’s tried killing you, right?”

“I know,” I smiled. “Not by choice. Plus,” I stood up, “there’s more to her story than you know.”

“Oh, do tell,” Amaka attempted to stand, but her leg didn’t allow her to put any weight on it. “Fuck!”

“Go to the hospital,” I said. “Today, preferably.”

“Can’t you stay longer?” Amaka pleaded.

“You and Eliza have got some catching up to do, right?” I asked, smiling at the skunk, who returned the smile.

“You bet your ass we do,” the skunk said as she pulled her lover into a deep kiss.

“You can stay here if you want,” I said softly to Heather. “Get to know them, since we’re going to be around them quite a bit anyway.” The hare beamed.

“Gladly,” she said, eyeing Macy.

I hugged each of the bunnies as I left. I pulled Carla to the side and pressed some Furre into her hands.

“What’s this for?” she asked.

“It’ll help cover the cost of acquiring this place,” I said. “It should cover most of it, anyway.”

“You don’t have to,” she smiled. “I’m sure my girls can quickly raise whatever is needed.”

“I’m sure they could,” I grinned. “I just want to help.”

“Well, thanks,” she hugged me.

From there, I went to the courthouse to check on Louis. I was sure he would be swamped with the new enlistments into the Army and Labor Corps. Sure enough, when I walked in, there was a throng of people in the lobby. The new clerk, a petite, tabby cat girl, was frantically gathering as much information as she could from as many of the guys as possible and running back towards Lewis’ office.

As soon as they noticed I walked in, many gave out a hefty cheer. This got the girl’s attention, and she appeared to let out an exasperated sigh, before running up to me.

“Sir, I’m sorry, but we’re too swamped with a sudden surge in enlistments,” she began.

“I know,” I chuckled. “I’m partly to blame for that. You’re the only one here?”

She looked at me dumbfounded. “I’m the only clerk, yes,” she finally spit out. “How,” she began to ask.

“It’s a long story,” I said. “And I’d rather not get into the details and hold you up any longer. Louis I take it is also swamped?”

“Well,” she sighed, “he’s diverting some of the applications to Miss Levinsworth to speed up the process.”

“Why her?” I asked.

“If he weren’t so busy, I’d say go ask him,” she started to growl. “Now, come back tomorrow. Hopefully we won’t be so swamped.”

“Actually,” I said. “I need to speak to either Mr. Bradshaw or Captain Bellington.”

“Okay,” she muttered. “Give me some time.”

“Of course,” I said, sitting against the wall to wait. She stopped and quickly returned.

“May I have your name, please?” she asked, sounding annoyed.

“Alakath Warrington,” I said. “Most of the court knows me.”

“Oh!” she gasped. “Mr. Bradshaw wants to speak with you, actually.”

“Well, he’s busy at the moment, so I can wait if need be,” I said.

“Right,” she said. “I’ll let him know you’re here, regardless.”

“Thanks,” I said and rested my head against the wall and closed my eyes.

I was woken up being gently prodded by the cat’s foot.

“Hey, wake up,” she said. “Mr. Bradshaw is waiting for you now.”

“Alright,” I groaned as I stood up. “Thanks.”

“You know where his office is, correct?” she asked.

“I do,” I said as I made my way in that direction.

I gently knocked on his door before entering. Louis was seated behind his desk, scribbling away on a piece of paper. He looked up when he heard the bell over his door chime.

“Ah, Alakath,” he grinned. “Good to see you!”

“Yes, you too,” I said. “The clerk said you wanted to see me?”

“Why yes!” he said. “I not long ago received the paperwork about your home.”

“Oh?” I asked. “I figured it would be a couple more days.”

“Yes,” Louis said, “I did as well. It turns out, a particular artisan heard about it and has already done all the repairs, free of charge even.”

“I see,” I said. “Who was this artisan?” The snake grinned.

“Ashley LeRoe,” he said. “She claims it’s her way of repaying you for helping her sister.”

“Really?” I said. “I just saw her. You’d think she’d have told me.”

“Maybe she wanted it to be a surprise,” Louis suggested. “Either way, the investigation did conclude that your home was damaged from vandalism, so even if Miss LeRoe didn’t do the repairs for free, you wouldn’t be charged for them.”

“Thanks,” I said to him. “Did she give an estimate on when she’d be done?”

“She’s already finished,” Louis smiled. “The girl’s worked non-stop for the past couple of days.”

“I’ll give her and her sisters that,” I said. “They’re all hard workers.”

“I agree,” Louis grinned. “It’s a shame about that blue furred girl, though.”

“Amaka?” I asked.

“Aye,” he said.

“Why?” I asked. “She’s just as hard working.”

“If only you knew,” he said, his grin fading.

“Knew what?” I asked. Louis shook his head.

“I can’t say,” he sighed. “At least, I can’t at this time.”

“Why not?” I asked, a low growl starting to form.

“Because,” he hesitated. “Because if she finds out what I know in any way, I’ll be killed.”

“That’s,” I started to say something.

“And it’s not just me that would be killed,” he continued. “The girl’s mother, sisters, and some skunk would be as well.”

“Eliza?” I asked. He nodded. “Why,” again he cut it off.

“Don’t,” Louis said quickly. “Please, just know that she’s not safe.”

“That somewhat confirms a suspicion I had, then,” I said.

“About?” Louis asked.

“The whole ordeal with Jonah, her, and the Feral I brought in,” I told him. “I suspected there was someone pulling his strings.”

“Well, I don’t know about that,” Louis nervously chuckled. “Before I say something that gets me killed, can we change subject?”

“Of course,” I said. “Are you aware of the situation with Jonah’s squire, Jesse?”

“Jesse Pennington?” the snake asked.

“I don’t know her last name,” I informed him.

“A mink girl,” the snake said.

“Yes, then, her,” I affirmed. “I take it, then, that you do?”

“Partly,” he said. “I know that she killed Prince Gregory and accepted Jonah’s offer of squirehood in exchange for not being arrested. Well, it was that or life in prison.”

“Do you know the circumstances of her killing him?” I asked.

“I have the trial notes,” Louis sighed. “She said something about him trying to rape her.”

“Isn’t that self defense?” I asked him.

“I believe so,” he answered. “The only reason she was found guilty of murder is that she killed the firstborn of the King.”

“How does he feel about that?” I asked.

“He’s never said anything that I’m aware of,” the snake said. “Why?”

“I would like to see about getting her sentence commuted,” I said. “The girl doesn’t deserve to be punished.”

“I’m afraid I can’t help you there,” Louis nervously chuckled. “Another topic that could get me killed, should I bring it up.”

“Seriously?” I couldn’t believe that. “No way that’s true!”

“I’m afraid so,” he sighed. “Go talk to Captain Bellington. He may not be shackled with secrecy upon death as I am.”

“Is he around?” I asked.

“No,” the snake lowered his head. “Something this morning happened and he’s going to be occupied with it all day. Maybe tomorrow.”

“I see,” I shook my head. What did Jacob’s decoy do?

“Anything else?” Louis asked apprehensively.

“No, I need to get going,” I said.

“I see,” he said. “Well, take care.”

“Stay safe, friend,” I told him.

“Thanks,” he said. “You can see yourself out?”

“Of course,” I nodded at him and left his office.

The clerk was sitting at her desk, filing her nails as I walked past. She glanced up at me, but didn’t say a word as I walked past. That is, until I got to the door.

“I hear the last girl who held this post works with you now?” she asked.

“She does,” I said, turning around.

“Why help that whore?” she looked up at me, her expression that of almost seething anger.

“Everyone deserves second chances,” I said.

“Everyone except that bitch,” she growled.

“Why?” I asked, crossing my arms.

“My life is ruined because of her!” she yelled.

“How so?” I calmly asked.

“Because she fucked my father, and my mother’s in prison now for killing him!” she yelled, tears forming.

“I’m sure she didn’t know he was married,” I said.

“Slut probably didn’t ask, either,” she growled.

“If your father paid her, I doubt she cared,” I said. “She was in a bad spot for a long time.”

“So, does that excuse her for breaking apart my family!” the cat yelled.

“Blame goes both ways,” I said. “She wouldn’t have initiated any interaction, regardless.”

“So, that excuses her how?” the cat glared at me.

“Maybe it doesn’t,” I said. “She’s paid her price for it.”

“So, what about my father?” she asked, her voice cracking. “She hasn’t done anything for me since he died.”

“That’s not on her,” I said. “Blame your mother for that.”

“If she wouldn’t have fucked him, she wouldn’t have done it!” the girl screamed.

“Your mother also could have reacted differently,” I said. “We can play this game all day. In the end, what’s done is done. Heather has paid her price for her previous deeds. Your mother is still paying hers. When she’s out, she’ll be given a clean slate, as Heather is being afforded.” I had walked back over to the crying cat and hugged her.

“But,” she whimpered.

“But what?” I asked.

“I know what you say is true,” she sobbed. “But why can’t I stop hating her? I fucking hate her because of all this!”

“Well,” I stroked her hair, “you can talk to her directly later, once you’re off. Maybe that’ll help clear things.”

“No,” she sighed. “I’d only berate her and start a fight with her.”

“Well,” I told her. “You’re still young, so maybe in a few years, you’ll be ready to clear the air.”

“Maybe,” she whispered. “Thanks for trying, though.”

“Just keep your chin up,” I told her. “You’ve still got some growing up to do.”

“Thanks,” she said, smiling. With that, I released her from the hug and left the courthouse.

I made my way back to the bunnies’ new home from there. I saw Heather standing outside the door, talking with Andrea. The hare waved at me when she saw me approaching.

“I’m not interrupting anything, am I?” I asked, grinning.

“Nah,” Heather said. “I was just asking her if she’d mind sizing me for armor with your crest on it.”

“Yeah,” Andrea smirked. “And a few other things, like.”

“Shush!” Heather cut her off. “Just armor and maybe some casual clothes.”

“Sure, casual,” the bunny cackled.

“I said hush,” Heather growled, then leaned over and whispered into her ear.

“Oh!” Andrea said, like she just realized something. “I like that!” She added, eyeing me coyly.

“What are you plotting?” I asked, trying to tease.

“Nothing,” they said together, both smirking.

“Yeah, those smirks sure convince me it’s nothing,” I began to laugh. “Has Ashley gone back, yet?” I then asked, knowing they weren’t going to tell me whatever they had in mind.

“No, she’s still inside,” Andrea said. “Why?”

“Oh, no reason,” I smirked, trying to tease them. At that moment, she walked out.

“Sis, why would this kitty be looking for you?” Andrea asked the white furred bunny.

“Oh, he has a reason,” she grinned. “Louis told you?” She directed her gaze to me.

“Yeah, he did,” I said. “What did,” I started to ask what I owed her when she cut me off.

“Stop it,” she placed her hand over my mouth. “You’ve done so much for us, I felt it’s the least I could do to pay you back.”

“What did you do, sis?” Andrea asked her.

“Nothing special,” she grinned.

“Nothing special, huh?” I chuckled. “Then let me,” she cut me off again.

“Nope,” she grinned, placing her hand over my mouth again. “You ain’t paying me shit. Like I said, I owe you, and that’s that.”

“Fine, fine,” I said. “Thank you, for,” she clamped my mouth shut.

“Shush,” she smirked. “We know what I did, and that’s all who need to know, mmkay?” she finished with a peck on my cheek. “From what I heard, you need a new sword?”

“One would be nice,” I sighed. “Out of my budget, though.”

“What I did is too,” Ashley smiled coyly. “That’s one reason I ain’t letting you pay.”

“Well, I’m sure Amarlee can’t afford to just give swords away,” I chuckled. Of course, Amarlee would walk out at that moment.

“Hi!” Marle bit her lip. “I’ve got something for you at the shop.”

“Don’t tell me,” I started to say something.

“It’s a gift,” the yellow furred bunny said. “The least I could do to repay you.”

“You still have the squire sword, right?” I asked.

“Yeah?” she said. “Heather’s in no shape to wield it.”

“I know,” I said. “I haven’t paid you for it, either.”

“And you’re not going to,” she smiled. “I already told you I’m not charging you for it.”

“Come on,” I sighed. “I can’t let you give away two swords.”

“But I am,” she smirked. “Stop being so awesome, and I’ll stop being appreciative.”

“I’m just being me,” I said, rubbing my neck.

“We know,” the three of them all said, smiling and giggling.

“What am I going to do with you all?” I chuckled.

“I don’t know about them,” Heather said, rubbing up against me, “but I know what you’re doing with me later.” That solicited some coos from the bunnies.

“Don’t let Amaka see you rubbing on him like that,” Ashley giggled. “She’ll get right jealous.”

“Yeah?” Heather said, standing to where her rump was rubbing against my crotch. “Well, with her I guess I can share.” That earned more cooing and giggling from the bunnies.

“Can you stop for a bit?” I asked, gently pushing her away. She, of course, pushed back into me and rubbed more vigorously.

“Hun,” she looked over her shoulder at me. “By now, you should no that nothing can stop me once I’m this horny. I don’t have that kind of willpower.” By then, one of the bunnies was startling to cackle.

“If you just wait until we’re alone,” I started.

“There ain’t no stopping now, babe,” Heather said, arching her back so she could kiss along my jaw. “If you’re worried about spunking in your pants, pull mine down and stick it in. I’m not stopping until I get off.”

“Not in front of them!” I groaned.

“We’re not here,” Andrea said.

“Nope, we surely aren’t,” Ashley chimed in.

“Told you she’s too much for you,” Andrea added with a giggle.

“So, you cumming in me or your pants?” Heather asked, kissing along my jaw again. I tried to steer her away from the prying eyes, but she wouldn’t move. “Right here, right now,” she growled, rubbing even more energetically.

“This isn’t the place for this,” I groaned, hooking my thumbs in the waist of her shorts.

“Everywhere’s the place, babe,” she softly moaned, kissing my neck.

“Neither of us need a public indecency charge,” I strongly exhaled, doing everything in my power not to release in my pants.

“Go ahead, babe,” Heather cooed. “Pull them down. I want it in me as much as you don’t want it in your pants.” She added as she pulled me down into a deep kiss. The kiss put me on the edge, so I caved in and yanked her shorts down. I barely got my pants open and my member inside her before I went over the edge. She held us in the kiss as I let out a groan into her mouth, steadily rubbing her rump against my pelvis as I filled her. However, she didn’t stop.

I don’t know how long it took, but after several ejaculations of mine, she finally shuddered and screamed into my mouth. Once she was spent, she stood there and kissed me again, this time more gently.

“Good kitty,” she cooed, smiling. “You’ll teach me the ways of a squire and I’ll teach you the ways of pleasuring a nymphomaniac like me.”

“Can we at least keep it in private from here on?” I asked, glancing to where the bunnies were still standing, giggling and cooing at us.

“I like a bit of exhibitionism every now and then,” Heather coyly grinned. “Makes things more exciting.”

“Sure,” I sighed. “Until we’re thrown in jail for lewd behavior.”

“Bah,” she kissed me. “You worry too much.” With that, she finally stepped forward, pulling me out of her in the process. However, when I started to put it back in my pants, she stopped me and dropped to her knees, pulling out her tits. “Never put a wet dick in your pants, babe. You should know better, old as you are.”

“Heather,” I said. “It’s not my fault you decided to hump me in the middle of the street.”

“I know,” she grinned. “That’s why I’m going to dry it for you.” With that, she wrapped my member with her bust and began rubbing vigorously with her breasts.

“That’s not going to help,” I groaned. She cooed.

“Oh, still got some in the tank, I see,” she grinned. “Guess I’ll walk home with your spunk between my tits, too, huh?” She rubbed even more furiously as she said that.

“Gods, no!” I moaned. “Just let me go!” I nearly yelled as she grabbed my waist-fur with her hand and began pulling me towards her.

“You’re so cute when you’re like this,” Heather grinned. “All flustered and bothered about everything.”

“And you complain when guys do things to you when you don’t want it,” I softly groaned.

“You saying you don’t like it?” she asked, trying to appear hurt, but that didn’t last long, as I ejaculated shortly after. That made her grin. “So you did like it.”

“It felt good, I won’t lie,” I sighed once my ejaculation finished. “But for the love of the gods, let’s not do this in public again.”

“Just like you’re going to train me to be the best squire I can be,” she said as she, very gently, rubbed her breasts along my member, “I’m going to train you to be the best fucktoy you can be.”

“I have my limits, you know,” I said gently, tussling her hair.

“Hey,” she growled. “I just let you titfuck me and all I get’s a little pet on the head?”

“Well,” I said as I pulled her to her feet, “maybe there’s more when we’re alone.”

“Better be,” she grinned. “I don’t let just anyone cum between these babies.”

“Can we watch?” the three bunnies asked together.

“You’ve seen enough already,” I nearly growled at them. “Don’t you all have work to be doing?”

“Not really,” Ashley said. “Marion said she’s got it all today and let me have it off.”

“Lucky bitch!” Amarlee gently shoved her. “Garius wanted me back an hour ago.”

“So why are you still here?” Andrea asked.

“Why do you think?” she asked as she looked at me coyly. She fluffed her tail before walking into the main thoroughfare.

“That girl,” Heather chuckled. “How is she the one of them with a boyfriend?”

“How any of them has a boyfriend is beyond me,” I chuckled with her.

“Hey!” the two remaining bunnies growled before bursting into laughter themselves.

“Wait, what time is it?” Andrea asked.

“Mare’s probably going to kick your ass when you get back,” Ashley chuckled.

“You’re right,” Andrea grinned. “But the show was worth it,” she added, rubbing against me as she walked past.

“Think they liked it,” Heather cooed in my ear. Ashley chuckled.

“You know,” she said as she wrapped her arms around Heather, “you two make a surprisingly awesome couple.”

“He’s perfect for me,” Heather kissed my cheek. “Well, he could use a bit more stamina, but besides that, he’s perfect.”

“Far from it,” I smiled at her.

“Modest as always,” Ashley grinned. “But, let’s face it, no one who knows her past is going to treat her as well as you do.”

“Doesn’t make me perfect,” I said. Heather pulled me into a kiss.

“Just take the damn compliment,” she said before kissing me again. “You’re the perfect person for me.”

“Fine,” I said once she finished kissing me. “Any further plans, Ashley?”

“Was going to go Siren’s Lake,” she sighed wistfully. “Today’s the last day of their annual Waterberry Festival.”

“That’s why Amarlee and her boyfriend were going there, then?” I asked.

“I guess so,” she smiled. “Who knows with those two lovebirds.”

“Can we go?” Heather asked.

“It’ll be nightfall by the time we get there,” I said. “We’d miss everything.”

“So?” she nuzzled up to me. “It would be nice sitting by the water, watching the moon rise, fucking in the shallows.”

“Maybe one day,” I said and looked at Ashley. “So, how are you spending the rest of your day off?”

“Guess I’m going to just go home and help Marion with little things,” she grinned coyly, “unless I can get in on a threesome?”

“You’re too young for me,” I laughed. “I’m sure Heather’s willing to show you a good time, though.” The hare giggled.

“I’m always up for good times,” she cooed. “You saying I should make her squeal?”

“If you want to,” I shrugged my shoulders.

“I’d love it if you did,” Ashley squeezed the hare’s breasts. “And, unlike our handsome friend, we can do it in public if you want.”

“Go have fun,” I smiled at them. “I’ve got one more thing I need to take care of.” The bunny yanked the hare towards the main street. “Just meet me at Johan’s when you’re done!” I yelled out to her, hoping she heard me over their shared giggles.

From there, I proceeded to an alleyway close to the Palace. I expected to find Jesse there, and she was indeed there, sitting propped against the wall between two stacks of crates.

“There you are,” I said when I saw her.

“So,” she sighed, “is he going to do it? Is my sentence commuted?”

“I won’t get to talk to anyone about that until tomorrow, unfortunately,” I said as I knelt in front of her.

“Oh,” she looked downcast at that. “I guess the events of today preoccupied everyone?”

“I’m afraid so,” I told her. “Do you have any place to sleep?”

“Maybe I can slip into the brothel and sleep there,” she said.

“No,” I grabbed her hands, “the guards will have quarantined it off by now. Every entrance will be guarded.”

“Then where? Here?” she asked, tears forming. I was about to ask when I heard clanking of armor approach.

“I heard you were wanting to speak to me, Alakath?” I heard a gruff voice ask. I looked over and saw Captain Andre Bellington, the current Administrator of Criminal Affairs, and the one who could get the ball rolling on getting Jesse’s sentence reduced or commuted.

“Yeah,” I said standing.

“I already know what of, as well,” he said. “In fact, King Raleigh himself wishes to speak with you both.” He glanced down to where Jesse was sitting as he finished.

“The King?” the mink stammered.

“Come with me,” the Captain ordered.

“I’m not in a proper state to see him,” I said, referring to my still blood soaked clothes.

“He’s aware of your presence at the riot at Jonah’s establishment, and will excuse your defiled attire,” the black furred wolf said sternly. “He believed you to have been there, given your closeness with a particular delinquent he’s fond of.”

“Amaka?” I asked.

“I don’t know the knave’s name,” he growled. “Enough stalling. Come.”

We followed the burly wolf into the Palace and through the central corridor. The Palace staff mumbled to themselves as Jesse and I walked by. No doubt they were talking about my soiled attire and her obvious nervousness. They forget not everyone is this close to the King all the time.

Before we entered the King’s Chambers, Bellington paused and spoke rather quietly.

“Remember to show the utmost respect to His Majesty,” he briefed us. “Speak only when spoken to and do not interrupt. Unless instructed otherwise by His Majesty himself, you are to address him by nothing other than ‘Your Majesty’. Am I clear?”

“Yes,” both Jesse and I affirmed at the same time.

“Good,” the wolf huffed as he opened the double doors.

Jesse and I followed the wolf into the King’s Chambers and knelt behind him. Only a few yards in front of us sat King Raleigh himself. The majestic lion was sleepily sitting on his throne, wearing silky gold pajamas. Apparently, he was woken from his slumber to see us.

“Rise,” the lion’s deep, but gentle voice commanded in a soft roar. “Sire Alakath, to what do I owe this privilege?”

“Your Majesty,” I began, “I humbly come before you to request this girl’s unjust sentence be pardoned.”

“I know this vagabond,” the King rumbled. “She killed my son. You say her sentence is unjust?”

“I do, Your Majesty,” I nodded.

“Under what circumstance would the option of life in prison or life in servitude be unjust for murder?” the King asked me.

“When it is done is self defense, Your Majesty,” I responded.

“Speak, vagabond,” the King commanded. “Why did you kill my son? Is it as Sire Alakath says?”

“Yes, Your Majesty, it is,” the mink stuttered. “Prince Gregory attempted to rape me, and he persisted until I killed him.”

“Hmm,” the King looked deep in thought. “It doesn’t surprise me that he would do such a thing. The people may not find it believable, but his treatment of the young maidservants here gives credence to your claim.”

He paused for several moments, considering what to do. His next question, however, caught me off guard.

“Sire Alakath, why do you risk everything for the blue LeRoe bunny?” he asked me.

“Your Majesty,” I began, “I believe she’s just a good girl who’s been pushed into bad situations. I couldn’t conceive not helping her.”

“A good girl, you say?” the King chuckled. “I wasn’t aware such could be attributed to thieves.”

“In most cases, you would be correct, Your Majesty,” I replied. “However, in her case, she tries to do right by everyone, but at times gets forced into doing the misdeeds that she does.”

“I believe you,” the King grinned. “I ask that you bring her, and the mink, back here in the morning.” He let out a long yawn. “I will answer your question about the vagabond’s sentence to morrow. If she is in need of accommodations, the captain here will escort her to the barracks, where she will be afforded one night’s rest.”

“I was planning on taking Amaka to the hospital, Your Majesty. Her leg is severely injured and likely becoming infected,” I said.

“How was she injured?” the King asked.

“I believe it was by the guard about a week ago,” I answered. “They were pursuing her after she obtained some sensitive documents from General LeBaptiste, Your Majesty.”

“I heard that she was pursued,” he growled. “I ordered them to cease the moment I heard of it. No one told me she was hurt.”

“The guard may not have realized his spear caught her leg,” I suggested. “According to her, it was right as she climbed out of their reach.”

“I see,” the King muttered. “Very well, as soon as she is released, bring her to me. However,” his gaze turned to Jesse, “this vagabond is still to come first thing in the morning.”

“As you wish, Your Majesty,” I said.

“She is free to come on her own,” the lion smiled. “Captain, brief the Commanders of the Guard that she is to be granted immunity until I have met with her.”

“Aye, aye, Your Majesty,” the wolf affirmed.

“Very well,” the King yawned again. “You may take your leave, then. I must retire for the evening.”

Before turning to leave, the wolf, mink, and I bowed. Once we left the King’s Chambers, Captain Bellington immediately turned to Jesse.

“Are you in need of a place to stay the night?” he asked her.

“I am,” she said, looking away.

“Very well,” he said. “You’ll accompany me to the Commanders’ brief, then I’ll escort you to the barracks. On top of the bed, I’ll ensure you have at least one decent meal before returning here.”

“Thank you,” she almost whispered. “I would greatly appreciate that. By the way,” she turned to me, “why did he address you as ‘Sire Alakath’?”

“It’s his way of acknowledging the respect Alakath commands with the court,” the Captain answered for me. “Alakath has no official title, so ‘Sire’ is the generic term for a respected man.”

“I see,” she looked away. “And I’m just some ‘vagabond’?”

“You command no respect,” the wolf said. “And as a convicted criminal, you are given none. It is only to maintain a civil dialogue that he called you such, and not worse.”

“I understand,” she muttered, eyes cast upon the ground.

“Tomorrow will determine whether that view of you remains, or if he finds you worthy of his respect,” the wolf smiled at her.

“You’ll be fine,” I placed a paw on her shoulder. “His Majesty is more understanding than he lets on. I’ll see you tomorrow, okay?”

“Okay,” the mink sighed. With that, I left the Palace and returned to Johan’s.

The walk across town to Johan’s was surprisingly relaxing. I suppose it was from knowing that I’ve done all I can to help many people today. It’s safe to say that a new chapter is now beginning for Amaka’s family. Hopefully, she hasn’t bee too hard on herself to where her leg can’t recover. It would be like what happened to Marrill if she has been.

Johan was standing outside his door, gazing at the stars as I approached.

“The spirits are not happy, Alakath,” he said to me.

“The stars telling you this?” I asked, looking where he was.

“No, I just find them relaxing,” he chuckled. “No, I can feel tension building amongst the spirits. They are becoming restless, my friend.”

“What can we do?” I asked him.

“Just keep those you hold dear as safe as you can,” he said, looking sadly into my eyes.

“Does Starlight feel the same tension?” I asked.

“Most likely,” Johan said. “She may not know what it means, though.”

“I see,” I said. “Did you come out here just to figure that out?”

“The girls may have also pushed me out for a spell,” he grinned. “That hare’s a breeding factory.”

“I’m starting to notice,” I chuckled. “She says she’s taking measures to make sure she doesn’t get pregnant, though.”

“Well, it’s good to see Starlight happy again,” he smiled. “Heather has really cheered her up.”

“Good to hear they get along,” I smiled. “I got word that my home is repaired, so I’ll get them out of your hair, unless you want them to stay.”

“They’re under your care,” he grinned. “So they go to your home tomorrow, then?”

“It’ll have to be after noon,” I said. “I’ve got to make sure Amaka gets to the hospital. Then, the King himself wants her to speak with him.”

“Any idea what about?” the Feral wolf asked, surprised as much as he was curious.

“I’ve a couple of ideas,” I said. “But, let’s go inside to discuss it.”

When we entered, Heather and Starlight were both wrestling, nude, in an open area in Johan’s living room. Gladia, still clothed, was nearby, appearing to act as referee for the two. At the moment, though, she was giggling as Starlight had Heather pinned similarly to how Macy had. The only difference was that Starlight was using both hands to push the larger girl’s face into the floor.

“You really love being girlhandled, don’t you?” I cackled as I walked over to where they were.

“What the fuck is that supposed to mean?” the hare growled. “Bitch, your breaking my jaw!”

“I not push that hard,” Starlight grinned.

“I see what he means,” Gladia cooed, using her toe to rub the hare’s glistening slit.

“Alakath, you fucker!” the hare screamed. “If you don’t make them stop!”

“Stop?” Gladia asked, rubbing the hare more vigorously. “You wouldn’t be this wet if you weren’t enjoying it.”

“Alakath!” the hare wailed as her toes curled.

“Girls,” I said softly, “I think she’s had enough.”

“Her body says otherwise,” Gladia smirked, essentially using her foot as a toy for the hare, who had begun panting.

“Gods, stop!” Heather gasped.

“Don’t stop?” Gladia teased, playing with the hare all the more. “Fine by me.”

“You fucking,” Heather arched her back, and let out a loud “Oh!” as she shuddered and twitched from orgasm.

“See,” Gladia cooed, “you loved it.” Heather couldn’t respond, only groaned as the husky pulled Starlight off her. “Now you’ve got my foot all messy.”

“What you want me to do about it, bitch?” the hare panted. Gladia responded by shoving her toes into the hare’s mouth. Heather immediately began sucking on them.

“Good girl,” the husky grinned, as she pulled her foot away. “On your back,” she the ordered the hare, who meekly complied. The husky then rubbed her foot all over the hare’s bust, stopping only when she felt the girl’s breasts were sufficiently soaked in her own juices. “That’ll do,” the husky grinned.

“Fuck you bitch,” Heather growled.

“Haven’t learned your lesson, yet, hun?” Gladia asked, stepping on the hare’s chest.

“Wait until my arm fucking heals,” the hare mumbled.

“Ha!” Gladia leaned down to where her face was almost touching the hare’s. “Even then, you can’t overwhelm me.”

“I’ll show you when the time comes, bitch,” Heather snarled. They stayed like that for a few moments before smiling at each other. Eventually, Gladia righted herself and helped the hare onto her feet.

“I’m starting to think your mouth’s making promises you can’t keep,” I teased, tussling her hair.

“At the moment, maybe,” she grinned at me. “But I’ll keep them eventually.”

“Nah, she just likes being dominated by us smaller folk,” Gladia cackled.

“Yeah, wait no! Fuck you!” Heather burst out laughing, along with Gladia and Starlight.

“Good to see you all getting along, at least,” I said.

“Yeah,” they all said, smiling.

“Well, tomorrow once I’m done talking with the King, we’re going to move over to my house,” I told them.

“Wait,” Heather gasped. “The King? You are going to see the King?”

“Yes,” I answered, rubbing the back of my neck. “He’s interested in Amaka and another girl for a few reasons.”

“I wonder what,” Gladia muttered.

“Amaka will likely tell you all about it whenever she’s able to visit,” I told her. “Especially if it’s why I think it is with her.”

“You and your secrets,” Gladia teased. “But, no doubt you’re tired from this morning still.”

“Just a little,” I sighed. “Could use a bite to eat before going to bed, though.”

“Heather make this!” Starlight said, handing me a bowl of stew.

“Same as last time?” I asked her.

“Not quite,” she said. “I added some lettuce to it to soak up some of the excess spice.”

“It’s delicious,” I said after downing half the bowl. “I swear you’ll make me love veggies more than I should.”

“Hey,” she said curtly, “veggies are healthy, too.”

“I still need meat, though,” I smiled at her.

“Well, that’s on you, then,” Heather wrapped her arm around my waist. “I don’t know how to cook any.”

“Maybe I’ll teach you at some point,” I smiled at her as I finished the stew.

“Alright, hun,” she grinned. “Go get some rest. We’ll have our fun tomorrow.”

“Thanks,” I said as the girls retired upstairs. Johan had long since plodded up the stairs to his bed. I plopped down on the sofa and pulled this thing out. I’ve nodded off quite a few times writing this, so I’m calling it a night. Hopefully, things go well with the King tomorrow.
